I know the odds of folks remembering any of that once they walk out of the signing are nil, plus it was super-annoying to have to remember which category I was discussing each time (’cause I have a memory like a sieve).  Clearly what I needed were visual aids! So I came home and got to work on some rack cards. Next time you see me at a signing and express an interest in BDSM erotic romance, you’re gonna get served with one of these babies:

Our fictional small town, Ashbury, has a thriving list of local businesses, a growing directory of characters, and even its own website in development…though you know how it is with small towns, sometimes it takes awhile to get these things up and running.

Oh yeah, and there’s also a twitter hashtag: #MomRom

The planned stories so far feature a little of everything–married couples sneaking in a good time at an unexpected moment, couples actively trying to get the old spark back, single moms finding love when they aren’t looking for it. There are naughty toyboxes, people get busy in closets and cars….moms have limited time, so they have to get creative and strike while the iron/husband is hot!

New authors are still joining the group, and others are still looking for story ideas, so feel free to sound off either here or on twitter (use #MomRom), if you have a scenario you think deserves its own novella! Main character must be a mom. Story must be set in Ashbury (ask me for details). Word count is 7-15K. This is erotic romance, so there must be HEA. More details about group authors and a potential publisher coming soon (fingers crossed)!

Heya folks, I just now tweeted (in jest) about needing a mommy porn anthology of erotica featuring actual mommies, and the immediate positive response made me realize: we all need this. Seriously.

Because here’s the thing. While I don’t exactly believe in “reclaiming” pejorative terms in order to defuse their negative connotation, at the same time I say if this term is going to become a cultural talking point, why the hell not have something out there to show people a different facet of female sexuality – namely, that it exists, and it doesn’t go away just because we have children!

I know a lot of erotic romance and erotica writers who agree, so why the hell not, indeed? LET’S DO THIS.

I’ve already talked to a publisher who may be interested in this, not as a collection of shorts but as a multi-author series of longer short stories/short novellas. Length would be around 7-15K, a bit longer than I was originally thinking – but that’s all good, because it’ll give those poor beleaguered moms more time to work out the child care so they can get their freak on with less fear of interruption.

Parameters (these are loose, a more specific set of guidelines will follow soon):

1) Can be m/f, f/f, or any other combo as long as one of the main characters involved is (duh) a mother. Natural, adoptive, whatever. Moms.

2) Just to keep the focus narrow and positive, these should be tales of married/long-term committed-relationship folks, or  single/divorced folks finding new love, rather than tales of infidelity. The emphasis here is on managing to have a (great) sex life despite the constraints of parenthood.

3) HEA! (This can be tricky with existing couples, but for now let’s just assume it’s a goal to shoot for).

4) Length would be 7K – 15K.

He got up early that Friday, just to see the sunrise. A fine shimmer of dew still coated the broad swath of lawn spreading out below the porch of the ranch house, and the scattered clouds seemed to linger on the horizon just for the purpose of holding the outlandish dawn colors a few minutes longer.

From this vantage point, the drive leading to the house seemed to drop sheer away about a quarter mile from the house. Perspective and the haze of morning made a floating island of the hilltop, and Logan wished he could keep it that way. In the distance, misty rises studded with limestone outcroppings marched away in successively darker ranks. Close by, there was only the house and the hill, and the man who still couldn’t quite believe he owned them.

Ah, poor Logan. He has a tough week ahead of him, but at least he’s about to get some!
